- CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC FOR FREE IN A YOUTUBE VIDEO?

• Although I am the writer of the music, the usage of my music is controlled by my publishers.

• "When is it okay to use the music for free?" Generally, YouTube videos that are non-monetized and non-commercial should be okay. In other words, if it is "just for fun," then it should be fine!

• "When do I need to purchase a license for the music?" YouTube videos that are monetized/commercial would need a purchased license in order to use the music. If the YouTube video is advertising for something that could make money, then a formal license would need to be purchased from the publisher.

• PLEASE NOTE: Buying the music from iTunes is not the same thing as buying a license. Music purchased from iTunes is intended for personal listening purposes only. To purchase a license, you will need to directly contact the publisher.

• ALSO NOTE: I am not able to grant you formal authorization to use the music in your video. The contact info for my publishers is listed below, should you need to reach out to them.

• This is usually fine, as long as the production won't end up being monetized or used for commercial purposes. Refer to the YouTube section above, as much of the same rules apply.
